Overview and Scrutiny Capacity Building Programme – What Has Scrutiny Ever Done for Us?
At the Annual Meeting in July 2006 we launched the DVD “What Has Scrutiny Ever Done For Us?” and six training modules and have received and continue to receive a very high level of interest in the DVD/CD-Rom featuring the 6 training modules from across the country.
We have also completed the development of a number of Scrutiny Peer Members. The members participated in an extensive training programme including an accredited mentoring award so that they can provide peer consultancy support across the region. Details of the Peers and how you can access the support of the Peers in your council can be found below.

We have been actively promoting the capacity building programme across the English regions. The South East launch took place on 17th October 2006 with over 65 attendees and the final launch was at Yorkshire and Humberside on 11th January 2007.
This programme has now been evaluated and completed and has received positive feedback from the CLG, Hampshire and Isle of Wight LGA and ACTVaR.
We will continue to develop support around overview and scrutiny and in November will commence a number of Action Learning Groups to support the scrutiny of strategic partnerships (LSPs).
