South East Government WARP (SEGWARP)
WARPs (short for Warning, Advice and Reporting Points) have been developed to provide a cost effective method to support defence against attacks. Their purpose is to provide a specific community (in our case local government authorities across the South East) with the capability to share security related information – both problems and solutions – and thereby develop more secure and responsive environments. The WARP programme is part of the Information Sharing Strategy of the Centre for the Protection of National Infrastructure (CPNI).
Here at SEE, we act as the WARP operator, and we work in partnership with a team at the University of Wolverhampton. The team in Wolverhampton spend their days analysing over 25 sources of the latest information and will send you a personalised service of alerts, warnings and advice.
There are three main elements to the WARP services:
- Tailored Vulnerability Alerts & Information Security News
- Confidential Sharing of Information and Access to Advice
- Incident Reporting
If you wish to become a member of SEGWARP (South East Government WARP) you can benefit from receiving early warnings, improved preparedness, compliance with ISO27001 and increased security. In addition to the alerts, as a member of SEGWARP you can attend network meetings. IT professionals from across the South East meet three times a year to chat about recent issues, problems they have encountered and solutions to overcome these. The feedback from those who attend has been extremely positive, especially the level of peer support in this safe, trustworthy environment. Furthermore, those who attend networks will hear presentations about popular topics…recent discussions have been led by a member of the Cabinet Office, and a representative from the Information Commissioners Office.
