South East Mentoring Programme

Mentoring programmes

Mentoring can transform your thinking, challenge your perceptions and develop your knowledge, skills and networks.

SEE have put together a range of programmes to enable individuals, groups and organisations to benefit from mentoring. Mentoring is a highly cost effective way of meeting many of your employees development needs and is particularly useful for;

  • Graduates and new members of staff aiming to broaden networks and knowledge
  • Managers in new roles, seeking professional guidance
  • Experienced professionals/managers looking for fresh ideas and challenges
  • People needing support for a specific project or role
  • Senior managers wanting to 'get back to grass roots' and update knowledge and understanding

Our range of programmes;

Setting up your own mentoring programme

(Max 8 delegates)
A two day programme to train officers who will lead and support the mentoring programme. We can also supply all the materials (application forms, evaluation templates, training presentations and handouts etc.).

Being a mentor

(Max 12 delegates)
We run a one day course to equip mentors with the knowledge and skills to ensure they and their mentees get the most from this learning and development opportunity. It can be run as a stand alone course, or to support ‘Setting up your own mentoring programme’.

Being a mentee

(Max 12 delegates)
SEE have developed a one day course designed to encourage people to think about their needs as a mentee, how to work effectively with a mentor, how to manage independent feedback and how to plan to get the most out of the partnership. It can be run as a stand alone course, or to support ‘Setting up your own mentoring programme’.

Running your mentoring programme

(Cost to be agreed depending on requirements)
SEE already have the structure, systems and processes at our disposal and can work with you to set up and manage your programme by providing marketing, training, matching, follow up and evaluation.

We are able to tailor these programmes to suit the needs of your staff and organisation.

The programme includes:

  • Recruitment of mentors and mentees
  • A comprehensive induction for mentors and mentees
  • Matching with a suitable mentor. The mentor will be someone from a different local authority who will meet as closely as possible the mentees needs
  • A number of sessions to be agreed between the mentor and mentee, normally around 6 to 9 over the course of a year, but it could be more or fewer depending on the mentee’s needs
  • Ongoing support for the mentoring partnership for 12 months, including re – pairing the mentee if necessary
  • Continuous development and evaluation of the programme.

We work with a small team of highly skilled and experienced mentors who can provide mentoring support to senior officers. Contact us for further details.
