Influencing Skills
Aim
This course aims to enable participants to use influencing skills to greater effect in the workplace and to develop a range of strategies for influencing effective work (and personal) outcomes.
Target audience
All those who want to be able to develop their personal effectiveness in a range of situations and to be able to work with others to achieve their desired outcomes.

Outline content
- The Communication Model and Three Steps to Effective Communication.
- Influencing and communicating beyond words - how we use our senses.
- Brain gym! (for creative thinking).
- Transactional Analysis - choosing a response to behaviours to influence communications.
- Influencing with ‘true’ assertive behaviour - to achieve constant win: win outcomes.
- Tips on managing the ‘difficult’ boss.
- Emotional Intelligence - the key to personal effectiveness
- Perceptual Positions Exercise.
- Break out of your limited beliefs
- Well Formed Outcomes - be clear about what you want in order to achieve them.
- Visualisation / goal planning.
- Course review / Evaluation.
Style
The course will consist of some input from the facilitator and a number of group discussions and practical exercises. Participants will be encouraged to draw up an action plan at the end of the course to put into practice what they have learnt.
Venue
This programme can be run on your premises or at a shared venue for a group of authorities.
