Committee Administration Programme
Everything you need to get you started and help you develop in the role of Committee Administrator

The first SEE Committee Administration Programme was held in February 2008 and was well received by the 21 participants from London and the South East. The four day programme included presentations, discussions and practical exercises on the following topics:- Working effectively with elected members
- The legislative framework
- Managing meetings including agenda preparation, decision making and minute writing.
- Ethics and standards
- Understanding different types of meetings
- The neighbourhood agenda and partnership working
- Overview and scrutiny.
Facilitators
It was facilitated by Sue Keogh from SEE and a number of experienced practitioners currently working in Democratic Services. There were also presentations from Elected Members in the region.

Future Events
We are planning to run this event again in February 2009 unless there are enough participants to run another one this year. It is aimed at inexperienced or newly appointed Committee Administrators.
Duration: 4 days
Dates: 9th & 10th February and 25th & 26th February 2009
Venue: Winchester or local authority venue in the south east (TBC)
Cost: £675 plus VAT
We are also developing a two day programme for more experienced Committee Administrators to run in the Autumn.
