Organisational Development

Organisational development (OD) is a planned intervention, organisation wide, managed from the top which increases the wealth and effectiveness of the organisation. OD is about change in culture, reward systems and managerial strategy.
OD is also about your council’s future workforce requirements. The Pay and Workforce Strategy for local government encourages councils to bring their various workforce change initiatives together to link and support each other.
SEE, through the OD sub group of our HR Strategic Board is supporting councils with these approaches to OD.
Approaches to OD will impact on:
Pay and Workforce Strategy
Implications of shared service delivery
Organisational and culture changes as a consequence of the Local Government Bill 2007
The OD Sub Group of SEE is led by HR/OD specialists across local councils in the south east to identify challenges, opportunities and provide peer to peer support to enhance approaches to effective OD.
The Department of Communities and Local Government have developed a resource publication to support councils.
