Performance Management for Councillors

This one day performance management for councillors workshop is intended to equip you with a range of knowledge and skill that will ensure you:

  • understand the Councillors role in managing performance
  • are able to use their council’s performance system to help deliver their policies
  • understand how to choose performance goals
  • can assess the robustness of their council’s performance systems
  • are aware of the contribution of performance systems to other regulatory frameworks.

Performance management systems (PMS) can too easily be driven by technical experts. This workshop shows councillors the key levers that will help them to direct PMS to drive their policy goals without needing professional expertise. It supports councillors in understanding how to ensure that their council’s PMS is fit for purpose.
