Unite has today announced that strike notices are being sent to 20 Councils in England and Wales, notifying of strike action to be taken from 30 August and throughout September.  This represents those Councils where the Trade Union reached the 50% turnout threshold, and where a majority of members voted for strike action.  None of these 20 Councils are in the South East.  Unite’s announcement can be seen on their website.

This indicates that Unite does not share UNISON’s position, stated earlier this week, that they wish to get the pay award implemented without undue delay.

Employers may wish to consider communicating with their employees what the NJC offer means in percentage terms for different staff groups.
