Thursday 2 May Elections will take place across England and Wales to elect 2,655 councillors, 107 Local Councils, All members of the London Assembly, 10 directly elected mayors and 37 police and crime commissioners. Not forgetting a Parliamentary by-election in Blackpool South.

However, across the South East after the large swathe of local elections in May 2023, 2024 is a much less intense set of elections.

In our region elections will be held in five unitary councils Wokingham DC (all out) and in Milton Keynes, Portsmouth CC, Reading and Southampton CC (Thirds).

All out District and Borough Council elections will be held in Fareham BC, Maidstone BC, Havant DC, Tandridge DC  and Tunbridge Wells BC. Elections by half will be held in Adur DC, Gosport BC, Hastings BC and Oxford CC.  A further fourteen councils will hold elections by a third.

Next week, following the election results we will provide an analysis of the council control, councillor composition and the overall picture of local democracy across seventy South East local councils.

Get some sleep in the next 48 hours because its likely to be a long night!
