The National Living Wage will officially increase to £12.21 as of April 1, 2025.
Following the recently approved 2024 pay award for local government services (‘Green Book’) employees, the lowest rate on the NJC pay scale is now £12.26 per hour (£23,656 annually). This adjustment ensures a margin above the NLW, albeit a narrow one of 5p, which will hold from April 1 until the 2025 pay round is finalised.
It was also announced that the minimum wage for people aged 18-20 would rise to £10 an hour, an increase of £1.40.
That rise is the highest such rise on record as the Government looks to extend the main adult rate to 18-year-olds in future
