Networks & Surgeries

Nothing beats meeting up with colleagues from other organisations to share experiences and learn from each other. So we facilitate a number of networking meetings throughout the year so that you can do just that. Existing groups include:

HR Surgery

A fortnightly session giving all our HR colleagues the opportunity to quiz a member of the Employment Team on any HR or employment law matter. They also provide a brief update of key developments and are happy to respond to any questions raised.

Reward and Recognition

Meeting every other month, this network provides Reward leads from all member councils the opportunity to discuss the key challenges they face and share their knowledge. With presentations from key suppliers, reward specialists get the opportunity to consider options and opportunities to enhance the rewards available to the workforce.

Equity, Diversity & Inclusion Network

Meeting every other month, EDIN allows EDI leads from all member councils to collaborate across the region, learning from each other and sparking ideas to support a diverse and inclusive workforce. While primarily workforce focused, this group also looks at some issues related to residents. Recent topics have included: Work experience, placements and internships, Pre-emptive reasonable adjustments, and Staff Networks.

Education HR Network

For those working in the specialist Education HR function, this network meets every other month and is regularly attended by representatives from DfE and NEOST/LGA. The meetings offer the opportunity to engage with these key organisations as well as collaborate with other Education HR specialists in the region.

Strategic HR Network

Launched at our 2022 Strategic HR Network Event, this network is for our HR strategic leads in District and Borough Councils. Meeting quarterly, the aim of this network will be to share knowledge and experience across the region.

County & Unitary Strategic HR Network

CUSHRN is open to HR strategic leads in our County and Unitary councils. Currently meeting monthly, the network aims to support collaboration on strategic plans and objectives. Recent topics include: Children’s and Adults Social Worker Recruitment and Retention, Wellbeing, Cost of Living Crisis.

Health and Safety Network

For our H&S colleagues from all member councils and Fire & Rescue Services, this network provides the opportunity to share knowledge and experience on the key challenges they currently face. Meeting every other month, each session includes a round table discussion, with a speaker invited to attend every other meeting.

Organisational Intelligence Service

The Organisational Intellgience Service (OIS) network is a complimentary network for members of the OIS service. It gives opportunities for members. to share issues and resources.
